Introducing the Sonus Musicians Chair
Brian Boggs has been designing and building award-winning chairs for over 30 years in the heartland of music-rich southern Appalachia. Under Brain’s guidance, Brian Boggs Chairmakers is proud to introduce the Sonus Musician’s Chair.
Brian Boggs Chairmakers workshop is nestled in the hills of western North Carolina in Asheville, a bustling music town full of hobbyists, buskers, studio and touring professionals alike. Inspired by our surroundings, we collaborated with Dream Guitars in Weaverville, NC, to design and build a one-of-a-kind musicians chair for the specific posture for playing an instrument sitting down.
A Musicians Chair Designed for Long Hours of Practice
Fatigue is unavoidable in bad seating. Before looking at a musicians chair, consider some common seating arrangements for musicians: stools and conventional chairs.
The stool is a favorite among musicians for its range of motion and lack of impediments. Its backless construction allows musicians to easily cradle and play their instruments without hindrance. The stool, however, completely lacks back support, doesn’t promote good posture, impedes leg circulation, and has a misfit seating height. The same goes for many conventional chairs that just happen to be the thing on hand (especially foldable chairs). With these common problems in mind we designed the Sonus musicians chair.
The Ergonomic Musicians Chair Customized for You
The Sonus musicians chair is designed from the ground up to support the human body and address the shortcomings of stools, conventional chairs, and the like.
We carefully measure and sculpt every part of the Sonus Musician’s Chairby hand to complement the exact proportions of your body in the playing position. The chair’s legs are deliberately cut to a specific height and the seat pitched and sanded to just the right angle so that your legs rest comfortably in front of you. The seat back provides ample back support for a healthy, relaxed spine, back muscles and improved diaphragmatic breathing for longer, healthier, and less taxing jam sessions.

The Sonus Musician’s Chair achieves this ideal seating through the unique custom pinwheel joints designed by master craftsman Brian Boggs. We also welcome customization requests including what tonewood you want your Sonus musicians chair to be constructed from.
