Brian Boggs, founder of Brian Boggs Chairmakers, has over 25 years’ experience building artisanal seating by hand. Now, he has expanded into crafting luxury outdoor seating with the same level of workmanship, comfort, and longevity as our indoor lines.
Every piece of outdoor seating is made to order by hand by master craftsmen at Brian Boggs Chairmakers workshop in Asheville, North Carolina. We put comfort first in all of our designs, and the resulting ergonomic shapes naturally lend themselves to an elegant, organic style and lasting durability. Introducing Sunniva Outdoor Seating: “Gift from the Sun”
We decided to name the first line of outdoor seating by Brian Boggs Chairmakers for the Gaelic “gift from the sun” because of the distinctive, outwardly radiating back slats and visions of our customers sitting in repose under the sun. Whether you’re looking for an outdoor armchair, an outdoor rocking chair, or a porch swing, a piece of Sunniva outdoor seating is a luxurious addition to any backyard, porch, or patio. A Sunniva outdoor chair can help make the outdoors as comfortable as your living room for yourself, friends, and family, any time the weather is right for reading, bird watching, lemonade, or hot chocolate.
Innovative, Durable Outdoor Seating
When Brian was first starting out, all he had to build his first prototypes were some old fashioned woodworking implements (some of which he had to make himself), zero power tools, and his own two hands. Getting creative for this new foray into outdoor seating like the beautiful Sunniva swing continues that legacy of drive, innovation and elegance.
Sunniva outdoor seating gets its distinctive look and comfortable shape from the unique tools and techniques developed in-house at Brian Boggs Chairmakers. For each back slat, first we build a “sandwich” of laminate boards for flexibility and strength. Then we bend them into their curved final product using a special tool completely developed and built in the shop.
