This tall two-part hutch takes its inspiration from the simplicity of Shaker furniture as well as a desire for function.

Inside the lower case are shelves for storing items out of site, while the upper case with its graduated shelves is designed to hold books and memorabilia. The broad deck between the two cases offers a convenient workstation or simply a spot to place items while browsing above or below.

Made from three contrasting woods, walnut, cherry and ambrosia maple, the lower and upper cases can be disconnected for easy transport. Most of the piece is made using frame-and-panel construction, with tapered sliding dovetails joining the upper shelves to the case. The doors on the lower case swing on solid brass knife hinges, known for their beauty and smooth operation.
